Woodrow Kroll: Michael Lotito of Grenoble, France feeds on the most unusual things. Since 1966 he has eaten 10 bicycles, six chandeliers and a metal coffin, handles and all. People often say, "You are what you eat." Well, if that’s true, Michael is the world’s only human trash compactor.
As strange as this story is, it’s even more amazing how we Christians often spiritually feed on those things that do us no good. Take jealousy for example. A steady diet of jealous thoughts produces nothing less than pain and destruction. The Bible says that it is among the worst emotions we can have. Proverbs 27:4 warns, "Wrath is cruel and anger a torrent, But who is able to stand before jealousy?"
Jealousy hurts everyone it touches. It strikes pain and heartache without prejudice. The Bible says that it is more powerful than wrath and anger, and no one wins when jealousy is involved.
That’s why you need to take measures to keep from being jealous. Start by letting God dwell within you through His Word. The more you know God, the less likely you’ll be to allow the monster of jealousy to raise its head.
