Woodrow Kroll: I'm glad the Bible doesn't reduce love to such simple terms. Real love is much more than a human impulse; real love is God Himself. First John 4:16 says, "God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him."
The word translated "love" in this verse is the word agape. It means an unconditional type of love. Often when we love someone, we put conditions on our love. The most obvious is that we expect them to love us back.
But that's not the way it is with God. God puts no conditions on His love. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." While we rebelled against Him, God loved us enough to give His Son to die for us.
Do you know any human that loves you that much? I don't think so. But you can get to know the God who loves you that much. Why not open your Bible and read how very much God loves you. Read the book of Romans or the Gospel of John. God doesn't simply love, God IS love and your Bible is His love story for you.
