Woodrow Kroll: What are the three best words in describing God? How about, "I don't know"? This is Woodrow Kroll with the Bible Minute. Maybe I caught you off guard by saying that, but anyone who's a Bible teacher as I am has to get used to saying, "I don't know." The reason isn't due to a lack of study or education. The reason is the incomprehensible nature of God. Oh, there's a lot we do understand, but God is so much greater than our finite minds can handle. Listen to Paul's response after a difficult theological discussion in Romans 11:33, "Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgements and His ways past finding out!" To have a proper view of God, we must admit there are things we cannot explain. If we could explain them, wouldn't that place Him at our level? I don't want a god I can explain. I want a God bigger than me. Despite our lack of understanding, there's much we can learn about God in His Word. The Bible tells us that we have sinned, but that God gave His Son to pay the penalty for our sin and through faith in what Jesus did for us at Calvary, we can spend eternity with Him. That's the best thing we can know about God—that He saved us! And do you know where you can read about this salvation? Only in God's Word. The Bible. Read it for answers. Read it for life.
