Woodrow Kroll: Hi, I'm Woodrow Kroll. You know, sometimes fathers can be pretty smart.
Son: Dad, I don't know what to do. I loaned a friend $500, but didn't get a receipt. If he decides not to pay, I can't prove I loaned him the money.
Dad: Here's what you do. Write and tell him that you need the thousand dollars you loaned him.
Son: Dad, I said it was 500 dollars.
Dad: I know. And he's going to write back to say he only owes you 500. Then...you've got your proof.
Woodrow Kroll: Pretty shrewd advice, don't you think? Dads can be smart. But there's one Dad who is smarter and wiser than anyone else. Of course, you know who I'm talking about—our Heavenly Dad—God our Heavenly Father. There's no one who compares to Him.
In the Book of Romans the apostle Paul put it this way, "To God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever" (Rom. 16:27). As smart as the dad was in today's story, our Heavenly Father is far wiser. In fact, when you think about it, He was the one who created wisdom.
The good news is that He wants to share that wisdom with you. When you read His Book, the Bible, you'll find all the wisdom you need to live successfully and wisely. Start reading in the Book of Proverbs for some pretty smart advice, but don't stop there. The Bible is full of wisdom that comes directly from God. Read the Bible and discover it for yourself.
