Man 1: (super-hero voice) Good morning, neighbor. How ya' doin'?
Man 2: (slightly baffled) Okay, Bob. What are you doing in that tree?
Man 1: I'm rescuing this cat with my super human powers because I'm…"SUPER NEIGHBOR"! (echo) Up, up and (losing balance) awaaaayyy!
SFX: thud, cat screech
Man 2: Sorry, Super Neighbor, but I think your cloak got caught.
Man 1: (moan)
Woodrow Kroll: I think "Super Neighbor" just had a reality check. Are there such things as Super Heroes? I'm Woodrow Kroll with today's Bible Minute.
If you know your Bible stories from childhood, you may think that Samson was a super hero. You remember his super human strength. It came from God. On one occasion Samson was captured by the enemy. But Judges 15:14 says, "The Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him… and his bonds broke loose from his hands." He went on to kill 1,000 men that day armed only with the jawbone of a donkey. Without question, his strength came from God.
Even though you'll never have Samson-like power, you can have inner strength to handle day-to-day responsibilities. And there's only one place to find it? From the pages of God' Word. The Bible has all you need to cope with life's struggles. So pick up a copy of God's Word and daily discover the supernatural strength that comes only from God.
