《圣经》启导本对此的解释是：
犹太人对摩西尸首埋葬的事有若干传说，其中之一是说，天使长米迦勒要隐藏摩西遗体，免得以色列民因过分尊敬，拜他坟墓，陷于拜偶像之罪（申34:6）。本书引用载于伪经《摩西被提记》中的故事，不是要证明此传说为真，而是引用犹太读者熟知的故事，来警告假教师的骄傲自大（10节），正像一般人引用典故来说理一样。
