Mom: Honey, why are you sitting there by the phone?
Daughter: There's this really cute new guy in school named Billy. Shelley and I smiled at him in the hall so I'm waiting for him to call me.
Mom: Does he know your name?
Daughter: Well, no. But he'll call. I just know it.
SFX: phone ringing
Daughter: Hello? Hi, Billy! You want to know what? Sure…it's 555-1749...
Mom: Was that him?
Daughter: Yeah! He called to get Shelley's phone number.
Woodrow Kroll: It's hard enough to wait, but to wait and not get what we expected is even harder. I'm Woodrow Kroll with today's Bible Minute.
Those who trust in God must learn to wait. God doesn't do things according to our timetable, but His timing is perfect. In Psalm 62 David wrote:"My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him."
Many times David could do nothing but wait on God. And the same holds true for us. That's when true faith is learned. Faith patiently waits, knowing God's timing is perfect. So rather than fussing and thinking we know better than God, we need to quietly wait on Him. Pick up your Bible and read this passage, Psalm 62. Trust God to do all things in His time. |
