Man: I can't believe Mr. Hayes let me go. It took me years to get everything in place so that his company was ready to go global. Now, when it's time to reap the benefit, he lets me go and hires a young executive. It just isn't fair.
Woodrow Kroll: Whoever said life was fair? If you're trusting in riches or power, position or title to make you happy, you're in for a big surprise. As a matter of fact, riches and power are temporary at best.
Listen to the words of Psalm 39:6,7: "Surely every man walks about like a shadow;
Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps up riches, And does not know who will gather them. And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You."
David, a man who had considerable power and riches himself, understood that trusting in anything but God was empty and unreliable. Only when we place our faith in Him is our hope secure.
No matter what happens in this world of ups and downs, my hope is sure because my trust is in God. That's why I love to read the Bible; it fills my days with hope and expectation. The Bible. Read it for answers. Read it for life. |
