================
A young man asked an old rich man how he made his money.
The old guy fingered his worsted wool vest and said,
"Well, son, it was 1932; the depth of the Great Depression.
I was down to my last nickel.
I invested that nickel in an apple. I spent the entire day polishing the apple and, at the end of the day, I sold the apple for ten cents.
The next morning, I invested those ten cents in two apples. I spent the entire day polishing them and sold them at 5 pm for 20 cents. I continued this system for a month, by the end of which I'd accumulated a fortune of $1.37.
Then my wife's father died and left us two million dollars."
Sometimes fortune, both good and bad, is out of our hands. But it is amazing that riches usually come to those that constantly accumulate more than they spend, both in material and spiritual things.
It matters not so much where you stand, but the direction in which you are moving.
The fellow with the apples only had 1.37 after his first month. That doesn't sound like much but it was over 25 times what he started with. He was moving in the right direction!
It's also amazing how fortune favors those moving in the right direction. Not really, that's not amazing, that's just truth, and plain common and spiritual sense. You are either acting more like a spender or a seller.
Though you may not think so, You can choose which you are to be. |
