Man: I'd like a dozen roses. Woman: Are these for your wife, sir? Man: Yes. Woman: Is it her birthday? Man: No. Woman: Your anniversary? Man: No. Woman: I see. Whatever the reason, sir, I hope she'll have mercy on you. Woodrow Kroll: We all need mercy, don't we? Sometimes it can be bought with roses, but most often it can't. The psalmist cries out in Psalm 6:1-2, "O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled." Whatever was burdening the heart of the psalmist was more than something a dozen roses could take care of. It troubled him to his very core. That's why he turned to the Lord. He knew what God was like. Psalm 86:5 says, "For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You." If your heart is telling you that you need mercy, turn to the Lord. Open your Bible to the Book of Psalms and read what God has for you. Discover that the "Lord is good and His mercy is everlasting."
