Woman: Hey, Jimmy, whatcha got there?
Jimmy: My BB gun. I'm going bear hunting.
Woman: Don't you think you need a bigger gun?
Jimmy: No.
Woman: Why not?
Jimmy: 'Cause the bear I'm hunting is plastic and stands about three inches tall…Got him!
Woodrow Kroll: There's a big difference between hunting a three-inch plastic bear and an eight-foot grizzly. The plastic bear is only a replica of the real thing. That's why I find it interesting that many people seem to want to create replicas of God; they're not interested in the real thing. They want a God they can control and have no reason to fear.
In Psalm 2:2 the writer tells about nations who gather against God: "The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His anointed."
And how does God respond? Verse 4 says, "He who sits in the heavens shall laugh." For the armies of earth to think that they can intimidate God is laughable. The only people who think they can stand up to God are people who've created a little plastic god.
Do you want to find out who the real God is? Read your Bible and then decide whether you want to fight this God or submit to Him and enjoy His love forever. |
