Woodrow Kroll: The human heart, vulnerable...vital. Experts tell us to keep our hearts healthy by avoiding excessive cholesterol, fats and caffeine. But a healthy heart—spiritually speaking—means more than avoiding bad things. It also means we must have a steady intake of that which is good.
Doctors tell us that a healthy heart begins with habits early on. So it is in the spiritual realm. While our children are young, we need to establish in them godly principles. The writer of
Proverbs had dads and sons in mind when he wrote, "My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you."
Those words from Proverbs 3:1,2 are a great foundation for a father-son relationship. Dad, you must teach your son healthy principles based on God's Word. Show him a biblical pattern for
living that not only brings joy for the present but long life and peace too. You'll find this pattern set forth in the Bible. Why not explore it today. You'll be healthier—and so will your children. |
