Dad: Well, son, remember what I told you.
Son: (Like he's heard it a million times) Ya, I know...
Together: Treat her like a lady.
Dad: OK, be back by eleven and, uh...have a good time!
Woodrow Kroll: So what dating advice would you give your son? You know, the Bible makes it clear we parents don't have to apologize for instructing our sons. They need the godly input of a caring mom and dad.
What's more, they need clear guidelines. Proverbs 7:1,2 read, "My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye."
Ours is an age of date rape, AIDS and other sexually-transmitted diseases. It's no exaggeration when Proverbs says "Keep my commands and live." Our sons need to know right and wrong behavior—for a date....and for life. You can find all the parenting advice you need in your own Bible. You can read the entire Book of Proverbs in one evening. It could change your life—and that of your son's. |
