Ted: Hey, Dave, did you hear Jerry sold more than 5 thousand last month? Dave: (ARROGANT) Yeah? Well this month, I'm pushing 7 thousand. And next month, I'm goin' for 10! Woodrow Kroll: We've all met them. In fact, maybe you are one: competitive people. Never satisfied. Always restless. Always determined to go faster, higher or farther. Now, competition is not bad in itself such as on the football field, but it has its dangerous side when it involves relationships. The problem is competitive people are always comparing themselves to others; in effect, becoming isolated because they're always thinking they are better than someone else. Proverbs 18:1 warns, "A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment." So how do you survive a competitive person? First, keep this Proverb in mind. Your counsel will not likely be welcomed—so be sparing. Second, let the greatest commandment of all rule your relationship: love that competitive person as you would love yourself. Practical advice for problem people—you'll find it every time when you read your Bible.
