Woman 1: Then when I looked up, I realized the store was being robbed. The guy holding the gun yelled for everybody to get on the floor.
Woman 2: What did you do?
Woman 1: I froze. I couldn't move. Thankfully, someone reached up and pulled me down or I don't know what they might have done.
Woodrow Kroll: Fear can be a paralyzing emotion. Fear can also take the joy out of living. It can keep us from experiencing all God wants us to experience.
The nation of Israel understood this. They had finally reached the border to their promised land. All they had to do was trust God and go in and take the land by faith.
The problem was that they were controlled by fear rather than faith. In Numbers 14:9 we read how Joshua and Caleb pleaded with the people. They said, "Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for…their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them."
Those are great words and a reminder for us today. We do not need to live in fear when God is on our side.
The more we learn about God, the stronger our faith will become. And the absolute best way to learn about God is by reading His Word. You can learn to live by faith and not by fear. |
