Woodrow Kroll: Some time ago a Texas businessman attempted to expand his business in another city. Permission from local authorities seemed like just a formality, until the man discovered that a competitor had successfully blocked his efforts to secure the necessary permits and contracts.
Naturally, the man was furious, and he and his vice president discussed several options for getting even. Then they remembered the words of Paul in Romans 12:19, "Do not avenge yourselves…for it is written, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord."
The men decided to take no action other than turning vengeance over to God. Less than two weeks later a story in the Dallas Morning News reported that their adversary was under investigation and facing indictment in a major scandal. Suddenly the competitor was no longer a threat to their plans.
Now, this true story illustrates an important principle. Whatever you're facing, even if someone has done something terrible to you, you don't have to get even. God says that He'll take care of it for you. It may be handled differently than you expect but trust me, God will take care of it perfectly in His time and in His way. |
