Woman: I'd like to believe what you say, Anne. I really would. But, given my past, I don't feel like I'm worthy for God to love me and use me.
Woodrow Kroll: In every area of our culture we're expected to measure up or pay the consequences. And sometimes we take that mind-set into our relationship with God. We think we need to measure up for God to love us. We must make the grade to be used in His service.
But never forget what Paul said in Romans 5:8, "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Salvation is not based on our worthiness. Our salvation is based on God's unconditional grace. Grace means undeserved favor. We don't deserve it; we just enjoy it.
If you're struggling with feelings of unworthiness today it's because…well, it's because you are unworthy of God's favor. But He offers salvation anyway to all who will receive it. Isn't that a remarkable gift? Pick up your Bible today and begin reading the Book of Romans to learn more about God's amazing grace. You may be surprised how much you learn. |
