Mary: Here.
Teacher: Judas?
Class: (gasps)
Woodrow Kroll: Can you imagine going through life with the name Judas? Do you know anyone with that name? Probably not. The name Judas will always be associated with the disciple who betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Whatever else might be said of Judas, one thing is clear. He reached a point where he realized what he had done was wrong.
Matthew 27:5 says, "Then he [Judas] threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself." Judas was overcome with guilt at what he had done. What he failed to realize was that God can forgive any sin, even betraying the Savior.
If you carry a load of guilt today, you have two choices. You can confess your sin to God and accept His loving forgiveness or you can allow your guilt to drive you away from God and destroy your life. Judas made the wrong choice. How about you?
From cover to cover, the Bible teaches us about God's grace and forgiveness. Why not read it for yourself today. The Bible will lighten your load and change your life. |
