Woodrow Kroll: I’m Woodrow Kroll and this is the Bible Minute. Comedian Woody Allen once said, "More than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness; the other to total extinction."
A lot of people feel like that. The future holds nothing but despair. Even the great Old Testament saint, Job, had moments of hopelessness. In Job 7:6 he says, "My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and are spent without hope."
Job’s solution to such feelings was to turn to God. In Job 19:25 he says, "For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth." Job could look beyond his hopelessness to see a redeemer who gave him hope and an eternity with the God of hope in heaven.
The answer for your feeling of hopelessness is to turn to the God of Hope. And you’ll find that God revealed in the Bible. The apostle Paul says, "For whatever things were written before were written for our learning that, we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope" (Romans 15:4). Read your Bible today and you’ll find strength to live for tomorrow. |
