Mom: Honey, what's the matter? What happened tonight? Girl: It was terrible. I made a complete fool out of myself. My hair got caught in the door; I spilled food in my lap. And at the restaurant I walked into the wrong bathroom. Mom: Don't worry, honey. Your dad does that kind of stuff all the time. Girl: Oh mom... Woodrow Kroll: Wouldn't we have a wild time if we all shared some of our most embarrassing moments. It does no good to relive past mistakes hoping something will change. Paul said it best in Philippians 3:13 and 14: "One thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Paul was likely embarrassed at his past attempts at self-righteousness. Rather than letting his past control him, he put it behind and went forward, trusting Jesus for his righteousness. You can't change the past, my friend, so press on toward the goal. Reading the Bible reminds us that God wants us to look forward and not dwell on our past. Get into the habit of reading some of God’s Word every day. You’ll be glad you did.
