Man: I’m no good. Nobody likes me. Not even my dog Puddles. Last night I thought he was happy to see me when he jumped on my shoe. That’s when I remembered why I call him Puddles. Now I have to get new shoes. I’m so worthless. I can’t even pick out a pet that likes me.
Woodrow Kroll: Ever had days when you felt like that? It reminds me of the old children’s poem, "Nobody loves me, everybody hates me. I think I’ll go eat worms." Well, from time to time we all struggle with feelings of insecurity. We think we just don’t "stack up." But the way to handle those feelings is to be reminded of who we are. The Bible puts it this way in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
God tells us that when we receive Him into our lives, we become different people. Our focus is changed. We are no longer looking at ourselves but at God instead.
If you’re feeling insecure today, remember who you are. Place your confidence in the God who has redeemed you. Your feelings of insecurity will simply melt away. That’s what the Bible says and you can believe it.
