Woodrow Kroll: What excites you? Seeing a pay phone on the corner generates no excitement unless you’re in an emergency and need to call 911. We may not be excited about finding a dollar in an old coat pocket unless we’re at a restaurant and realize that we’re a dollar short to pay the bill.
In the first century many people kept their distance from Jesus because He made them feel uncomfortable. But one tax collector named Zacchaeus was as excited as he could be to meet Jesus. Luke 19:6 records Zacchaeus’ response to Jesus' invitation: "So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully." Zacchaeus knew he needed a Savior. So with tremendous zeal he sought out Jesus.
What gets you excited? A basketball game? An electrifying performance by your favorite musician? How about spending time with Jesus? For the Christian, nothing should be more exciting than getting to know the Savior by reading His Word. Why not begin today. Start with the Gospels and read what God has done for you. The Bible. Read it for answers; read it for life.
