Woodrow Kroll: I'm Woodrow Kroll, and this is the Bible Minute. Many people are concerned about purity in the food they eat and the water they drink. An estimated 73,000 Americans a year become sick and some even die because of eating or drinking something tainted. Purity is important.
That's why I'm glad one of the characteristics of God is that He is pure. And every benefit or gift He gives is equally pure and perfect. In the Book that bears his name, the apostle James said it this way, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning." That's James 1:17.
James was talking about temptations. And He reminds us that when we're tempted to do something wrong, we can't blame God. God doesn't even have a shadow of anything evil or wicked in Him. What He wants to give us is purity so that we can live the way He lives, and the way He wants us to live as well.
Because God is pure, He is able to help us to stay pure as well. I encourage you to read God's Word and find out what He can do in your life. The Bible is God's guidebook for living. Open its pages and find out how the God of purity can make you pure as well.
