SFX: School bell, kids filtering into classroom...
Woodrow Kroll: A millionaire and a class of eighth graders in Harlem. Now that's an interesting match! Eugene Lang wondered what he would say to the students in front of him. A rich white man trying to encourage a group of minority kids to stay in school. He had only one thing to say—something only he could do.
He gave every student a goal. Eugene promised to personally pay the college tuition for every student who finished high school! Eugene Lang's offer came straight from his heart. True Benevolence. Giving something of value but expecting nothing in return.
That's like what God did for us. Romans 5:8 says, "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." We have nothing to offer God in return for the gift of His Life. Yet, He freely gave to us. That's why He's such a wonderful God. Benevolence is a part of His character. He is a giving God.
How much do you know about this God? There's only one place to learn more about Him. That's in His Word, the Bible. Learn more about God's character by reading His Word. Every page will teach you something new and help you understand the One who died for you. Take some time today to open your Bible and discover God.
