Woodrow Kroll: Is there ever a time when jealousy is okay? I'm Woodrow Kroll with today's Bible Minute.
Jim: Bob, sorry to hear about your wife. Is she really having an affair?
Bob: Yea, but it's all right. We have an agreement. She's free to be with any guy she chooses.
Jim: That doesn't bother you?
Bob: No! I love her so much I don't care what she does.
Jim: How does she feel about that?
Bob: Well, she claims that I don't care. Where would she get that idea?
Woodrow Kroll: Sounds like Bob needs a lesson on love. There is such a thing as a right and holy jealousy. If I truly value the relationship with my wife, I'll be jealous for her love. Not in a controlling way, but in a way that communicates her value to me.
That's how God loves us. In Exodus 20:5 we read, "You shall not bow down to them," referring to other gods, "nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God." He is jealous because we matter to Him.
I don't know what your relationship with God is today, but keep in mind He is jealous for you and wants you to know as much about Him as possible. That's why you need to read your Bible. When you read God's Word, you'll learn to love Him. You'll also learn how much He loves you. "I am a jealous God," the God of the Bible says. Worship Him today.
