Yeah! It's a hymn!
The original writer is Carl Boberg(1859-1940), a young pastor in Sweden. The original name is "O Store Gud".He wrote this song in 1880 moved by the Holy Spirit when he saw the great picture after experiencing a thunder and storm. And it was well welcomed when he preached at that time. It was printed and handed out all over Sweden in 1886.
In 1907, it was translated into German,then into Russian in 1927. It was added the third section by Stuart K.Hine(1899-1989),a missionary of Methodism in England during his ministry in Ukraine.
In 1954, someone gave it to George Beverly Shea to play in Billy Graham's preaching meeting. And then it was singed in the next following Billy's preaching meeting. In a short time, it was spread all over the world. |
