"Oh God, thy sea is so great, and my boat is so small."
That's a quote that sat on a plaque on President Kennedy's desk.
It was in the movie "13 Days."
I don't know whether that quote actually sat on his desk or
whether it was just added for dramatic effect, but I understand
it.
I understood how he felt.
President Kennedy had just undergone the Cuban Missile Crisis
and picked up the plaque and looked at it as the movie ended.
He had just finished dealing with a sea of problems.
Worlds colliding, governments feuding, leaders quarreling,
generals trying to prove who was right and the public opinion of
a nation.
His close friends questioning his judgment, his father's shadow
looming over him, his wife, his allies, and yea, even his
enemies made a good night's sleep elusive.
A sea of things for the president.
That's one reason why I've never wished to be president.
I have enough to deal with handling my own little world much
less a nation.
If I were anointed to be president, I could handle it as easy as
I handle MountainWings, for you will never have more put on you
than you can bear.
Yes, it's a big sea, and yes, your boat may be small in
comparison.
But it's big enough to keep you afloat and get you to dry land.
And big or small, you are the captain, president of your ship.
"Oh God, thy sea is so great, and my boat is so small."
