The happiest people are rarely the richest or the most beautiful. They do not find joy in the externals. Rather, they enjoy what they have and don’t get suckered into believing the absurd notion that having more money, or more brains, or more of anything, will make them happy.
Here’s a prescription to beat the blues and have a great day:
· Soak up the joy of kids. Go to a playground/park or a day-care center and watch kids.
· Go nuts! Make up a weird/unusual food combination for dinner. Do something you’ve been
putting off because you didn’t have time. Go try on interesting hats or shoes.
· Do a kind deed for no special reason. Buy a dozen cookies and give one to the cashier as you leave. Pay for the car behind you at a toll booth. Write a long letter to your lonesome relative. Compliment three people today.
· Call someone who is more miserable than you are. The most likely people would be anyone who just got dumped (from their special relationship) or got fired. Let your friend do all the talking.
· Get lots of sunshine and exercise. Jog, throw a ball. Anything that is fun and vigorous will do. |
