Man 1: Hey, Byron, whatcha doing?
Man 2: Oh, waiting for my wife. She's here in the mall.
Man 1: Did you get that promotion at work yet?
Man 2: No. Still waiting.
Man 1: Last time we talked you were concerned about your teenage daughter. How's that going?
Man 2: Still waiting...and praying.
Woodrow Kroll: Ever find yourself doing that—waiting? Sometimes waiting can be very difficult, like when we find ourselves waiting on God. We want God to do everything now. But God's ways are not our ways. In Psalm 27:14 we read, "Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD."
To wait on God means we must trust Him. God will accomplish His will, but He'll do it in His way and in His time. Easier said than done, isn't it? But you'll be comforted when you read His Word and discover others who waited on God and were rewarded.
By the way, reading God's Word is a great thing to do while you wait. You'll not only be comforted, you'll strengthen your relationship with the Lord. What better way to spend your time. Read your Bible today. It will help you to wait patiently. |
