Jim: (Receiving end) Hello.
Pete: Jim? This is Pete. I've just got a minute but I've got to tell you what happened with that idiot boss of mine today. I finally had it with his unreasonable demands and put him in his place.
Jim: It's about time you gave him what he had coming, Pete. Did you really drill him?
Pete: Well, I'll have to tell you later, I've got to run to an outreach committee meeting at church. We're discussing relationship evangelism and I'm supposed to lead the meeting. I have a real burden for this you know.
Woodrow Kroll: How do you respond to your enemies? Our natural reaction is to let them have it, but what does Jesus say about our relationship to our enemies?
In Matthew 5:44 Jesus says, "Love your enemies, bless those who curse you" How is Jesus evident in our lives if we act like everybody else and try to get even toward those we dislike? Our goal is to be a witness to our enemies, not to put them in their place.
The Bible has a lot to say about getting along with difficult people. Do yourself a favor and read it today. Start with Matthew 5:44 and discover what Jesus says about your enemies. When you want to know for sure, read your Bible. |
