Woodrow Kroll: There's a story about a family who had an antique vase which was handed down through several generations. One day the lady of the house came home and she was greeted by her daughter.
Daughter: Mother, you know that vase which you told us has been passed down from generation to generation!
Mother: Yes, dear.
Daughter: Well, this generation just dropped it.
Generations have a way of doing that, especially in more important things. It seems we've dropped our standards. We've lowered our values. One way to stem this problem is strengthening the relationship between mothers and daughters.
In 2 Timothy Paul reminds Timothy of the godly heritage that had been passed down from his grandmother, Lois, to his mother, Eunice. "I thank God...when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice.
What a heritage passed from one generation to another. Lois patterned faithfulness for Eunice to follow. You can do the same for your daughter by making God's Word a part of your life. Mothers, get into God's Word and pass on a heritage of faith to your daughter. |
