Woodrow Kroll: When is the best time to begin mentoring a new believer? If you were comparing mentoring to a 24-hour day, the best time would be...to start at the beginning of the day. In other words, the first opportunity you have.
Mentoring new believers and those young in the faith is one of the most important relationships we can create. Paul talks about older women mentoring young women in the Book of Titus. Titus 2:4,5: "Admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed."
Parents are also mentors, teaching children God's commands. Deuteronomy 6:7 tells parents, "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up."
Notice that the job of mentoring is full-time. It's something we do at every turn of our lives. It's a vital relationship we need to create with others. That's why we need the Bible for instruction because your Bible has everything you need to be an effective mentor. Read deeper and discover the joy of mentoring others.
