Woodrow Kroll: The first stanza of one of my favorite hymns says, "'Man of Sorrows!' what a name, For the Son of God, who came. Ruined sinners to reclaim! Hallelujah, what a Savior!"
No one on earth understands our sorrows like Jesus because He's been there. He's experienced all of life's difficulties. The prophet Isaiah foresaw what would happen to Jesus. He wrote in Isaiah 53:3 that Jesus would be "despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief."
In the New Testament that prophecy was completely fulfilled when Jesus suffered rejection, false accusations and finally death on Calvary's cross.
Let's face it. Life's not fair. But we have a God who understands because, not only has He seen it happen to others, He has personally experienced it Himself.
If you're going through a tough time today, turn to God's Word. Expect to encounter a Living God who brings comfort to your heart. You'll be surprised at how God will meet your deepest need and help you through your sorrow. The Bible. Read it for answers; read it for life. |
