Captain: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain. I just discovered a fire in one of our engines, and we've had to shut it down. We'll be returning to Kennedy Airport. You'll see a lot of fire trucks lining the runway. But don't panic. We'll be fine.
Woodrow Kroll: I'm Woodrow Kroll and one day I was in that very situation. An engine caught fire while we were flying over the ocean and we were forced to return to the airport. I don't have to tell you that many passengers felt it was time to panic.
Ancient Israel had just left captivity in Egypt when the Egyptian army came in hot pursuit. The Israelites panicked and yelled at Moses, "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness?"
Moses simply replied, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord."
Thankfully, most of us don't face very many life-threatening situations like that. But when we do, we don't need to panic. God promises to be our salvation. Why should we be afraid?
