Woodrow Kroll: A business executive was once asked... Man: Now that you've made it to the top, how does it feel? Woodrow Kroll: His answer was surprising... Man 2: I feel like jumping out of my office window. It's not like I thought it would be. Woodrow Kroll: Sad, isn't it? People spend their lives trying to attain something only to find when they get it, they don't really want it after all. Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:14, "I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind." Solomon was expressing the same feelings as this business executive. Isn't it interesting that so little has changed in thousands of years? The end of the Book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that everything in life is empty and of no lasting value apart from God. Our pursuits in this world don't have to lead to disillusionment if God is our focus. Money, pleasure, success, power, fame...they all disappoint us if God isn't where He belongs. Reading the Bible keeps us from investing our lives in things that are empty and unsatisfying. Read your Bible today. You’ll be glad you did.
