Woodrow Kroll: Can you imagine building a house without a roof? Every time it rained those inside would get drenched. There'd be no protection. By definition, a good home has a roof.
To some degree you can compare loving someone to building a roof. I know, that sounds a bit unusual. But the Bible uses an interesting phrase to describe love that means "to build a cover." It's found in the great love chapter, I Corinthians 13. "Love… bears all things..."
The phrase literally means to "roof over." It's the idea of covering someone's wrongs toward you by bearing the weight of those wrongs without retaliation. It's holding back in the same way a roof holds back the rain.
Perhaps you've heard the song "Love Can Build a Bridge." Well, the Bible says love does more than that; it builds a roof.
You'll find everything you need to know on how to love and how to live in the Bible. It's your best source for keeping the rain out of your life. |
