Bob: Hey, Ted, how are you adjusting to life in the big city?
Ted: Oh, fairly well, I guess. But you know, it's a strange thing. I've never been surrounded by so many people but never felt so lonely.
Woodrow Kroll: Never has our planet been so heavily populated. Yet loneliness continues to be a significant problem. Today's hi-tech world has produced people who are successful in business and failures in relationships.
Jesus understood the significance of relationships. In the most difficult hours of His life He asked His friends to be with Him. He said, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me." Jesus knew His time was short and needed the comforting companionship of His friends.
Are you struggling with loneliness? Why not make the first move and begin building relationships. Your local church is a good place to start. You’ll meet people with whom to share things in common.
But you can do more. Read God's Word. The Bible is your best source to learn the basics of building relationships. When you enjoy a relationship with Jesus Christ, you’ll have a friend who will never leave you. |
