Woodrow Kroll: A well-known pianist was asked why, at the twilight of his life, he still spent three or four hours a day practicing the piano. His answer was classic, "Well, it’s because I think I'm still making some progress."
What drove this musician was not money or fame, but his passion to be the best he could possibly be. Passion is often the missing ingredient that separates the good from the great.
This is true in sports, music, business and especially true in our Christian walk. Listen to Paul’s passion in Philippians 3:14, "I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Paul's passion was to please God and fulfill his call. It was his focus in life.
What is your passion today? Is the passion of your heart to please God and serve Him or do you keep God at arm's length while you pursue the things of this world?
A passion for God starts by knowing Him and you only get to know God intimately when you pick up your Bible and read about Him. So why not take some time today to read God’s Word. Ask Him to increase your passion for intimacy with Him. He’ll do it, if you ask. |
