Wow! All of those days my question hung out there and only Ruth Abby gave an answer.
What happened to Saul's spear in his final moment on the battlefield? Well, most likely he did have it, as David would have returned it by then. The reasonable answer is that he had already thrown it during the battle. Very possibly some man of the enemy army lay on the battlefield with that spear in him. But for Saul, the spear that he so trusted could not save him. During his reign he trusted in his spear, in witchcraft, and in his own misguided judgement, but never do we see him turn to the Lord. Thus he died so dishonorably without God's rescuing hand. What or who do we trust in above the Lord? ![](static/image/smiley/default/em08.gif) |
