SFX: Old cars screech brakes, Tommy gunfire (ambience).
Woodrow Kroll: Al Capone and his mob ruled the streets of Chicago during the days of Prohibition. His illegal alcohol trade flourished and his mobsters kept people in fear. Everyone looked the other way when it came to Capone.
Everyone but The Untouchables. Elliot Ness and his band of federal agents were more than a match for Capone. They succeeded where others had failed and as a result…
SFX: Prison Door Slams.
Woodrow Kroll: sent Capone to prison. So what made The Untouchables "untouchable"? Uncompromising standards. Capone could never buy off Ness and his crew.
In theology, we call God's uncompromising standards "holiness." Holiness is a part of His character. Listen to Leviticus 11:44, "I am the LORD your God...you shall be holy; for I am holy." What does that mean? It means that God will never do wrong. He won't "shortchange" His standards. To Him, what's wrong today will be wrong tomorrow. I like that because I know God will be consistent. My only problem is my meeting His standards.
To learn about God's holiness I challenge you to read your Bible. There you'll find everything you need to know on how God wants us to live. Discover God's uncompromising standards as you read His Word.
