Woodrow Kroll: I'm Woodrow Kroll, and this is the Bible Minute. Everyone needs a protector…someone who shields them from harm. Remember those old western movies?
SFX: High Noon-type "whistle" music.
Women: (melodramatic) It's the Sheriff and Dirk. They're about to duel!
Outlaw: No lawman is going to tell me what to do, Sheriff.
Sheriff: Dirk, your days of running this town are over. It's just you and me. You draw first.
Outlaw: All right, there.
SFX: Pencil writing throughout.
Sheriff: Okay, take that.
Outlaw: You take this.
Sheriff: That.
Outlaw: This.
Sheriff: That.
Outlaw: This. (Discovers he lost) Arggh…
Sheriff: Got ya', tick-tac-toe. Dirk, it's time for you to go.
Women: (Over done) Oh, Sheriff, our town is safe again.
Woodrow Kroll: Okay, so maybe that's a little far-fetched but the point is still the same. We all need a protector...someone to keep us safe. The truth is, there is someone like that. Psalm 4:8 says, "I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety."
One of God's characteristics is that He is our protector. Twenty-four/seven He's on guard keeping us safe from harm. Now that doesn't mean bad things won't happen. It means that God is there to help us handle the bad things that happen to us.
So if you're feeling a little insecure right now, I have a solution for you. Pick up your Bible, check out Psalm 4, verse 8 and experience God's protection. He's there for you, my friend. You'll discover Him in the pages of His Word. Read your Bible today.
